Protects your Mac from infection by the 'Graphics Accelerator' virus, and eradicates the virus as you use infected programs if you are already infected. It is a very dangerous virus which will delete every file (excluding applications) from your system disk if your Mac is running between 6:00am and 7:00am on the 6th or 12th days of any month. On startup, Gax Defender makes sure that your system is not infected, and every time that you run an application, it makes sure that that application is not infected. If it finds an infection, it will attempt to remove it, and you will be notified of this action by a message box.If it finds an infection which it cannot repair it will rename the application and quit it before the virus does any damage (in applications only - it can always succeed in removing it from the system unless the system folder or extensions folder is locked) In all of these cases the virus does not get a chance to spread further. Any notifications which you see on the screen will also be recorded in a log file inside the System Folder, called 'GAx Defender Log'. This file is created if it needs to write something to it and it is not there.
